I know it's always good to include people's name in a conversation to show that we actually acknowledge the person. And also a very good way to remember the name. But sometimes i think it's just too much for me ...
Before the class, i talked to a makcik ...
Her : Danny, so u ajar class full time ke?
Me : Takde la. Part time je. I ada keje sendiri.
Her : Oh ye? So Danny keje apa? Boss sendiri ye Danny?
Me : Boss apa? Keje sorang je.
Her : Knaper Danny? Taknak ambik staff ke Danny?
I started to feel regret talking to her. I never been annoyed the name "Danny" till then. ;p
Do you think it's a bit over?
Do you like to include the names in a conversation?

Lol, Danny...maybe next time I just call "oi".
ReplyDelete:)
i think 'oi' is a very friendly way to call a friend :)
DeleteSome people do that on messages as well! Drives me insane too :)
ReplyDeletewritten messages?
Deletewhy they like to do that huh?
LOL@ChenXing's comment. Oi, slap her la! :P
ReplyDeleteya la .. 'oi' is so the warm kan? :)
Deletebecause its really rude to say Kau, Kamu and its too weird to say anda. So say Danny jer la.
ReplyDeleteshe can juts use ' you' kan? since we talked in rojak :)
Deleteyalar, but danny more sensible than you for the malay aunties lor~
Deletei know .. so i'll try not to talk to her too much la..
Deletenanti annoy sendiri saja ;p
Danny leh, dint call you "big mouth" also... =P
ReplyDeletehehehehehe
cos she doesn't know my secret identity ...lol ;p
DeleteI'm bad at remembering names, I should try this technique more. But your name is nice to say mar Danny kor. :)
ReplyDeleteyeah .. not sure if it'll work
DeleteBut that's how Malay speaks. It means that she respects you a lot by calling you by your name (unless you want her to refer to you as abang or adik). By calling you as "you" ain't that polite also, and kamu also not that polite. Worst would be calling you kau or engkau. (;
ReplyDeletei know..
Deletebut it's just a bit too much to keep repeating the name la.. till i oso bengang...lol ;p
Sabar iyer. Sabar itu sebahagian daripada iman. My colleagues (Malay) always call be by my family name and seldom calling me "you". Well, I guess I'm used to it already.
Deleteyea la.. kena sabar..lagi lagi kat bulan ramadhan kan? ;p
DeleteDanny, how is that possible you getting annoyed by your name?Danny,in fact that makcik have the intention to mesra2 and manja2(or kepoh2) with you from the conversation.Danny,i wonder how many times i already wrote the name Danny already?lol
ReplyDeletenak mesra panggil lah sayang ke, adik ke.... lol ;p
Deletei dun mind written name .. cos it's not as annoying as when u hearing it...lol ;p
