La Vie en Rose

I just finished watching the movie. Very sad and touching story...

It's the story of Edith Piaf, one of the greatest French songstress. From her childhood to the day she died. And a lot of important moments in her life - friends, family, career, but above all, LOVE.
I'm not going to blog anything on the story. But the costumes, styling and soundtrack, which is awesome.

You will notice that there is a lot of different costumes, from the 'Roaring 20's " to the " Swinging 60's ". It caught my attention because i was a fashion graduate. And i always like the styles of the 20's. Low waistline, straight silhouette and simple accessories. ( Can't imagine? Think "Olive" - Popeye's wife ;p ) and also the make-up - super thin eyebrow, black eyeliner, pale face and deep red lips. The look was just simply DRAMATIC.

And then the soundtracks. It's all the good old classics from her. Mostly French. If you like jazz or big band music, you have to get the soundtrack. It's strange that the way the sing then was really different from now. But somehow i can feel the life in the voice. There is one song in that movie that i loved. Not sure what's the title of the song. But " Essentials" - some perfume used it in the tv commercial long time ago.

Not sure if you will like it, cos it was quite a long movie. But i did enjoyed it with all the things that i mentioned above. ;)
